Water!Where did you get those "facts" just drink when yiu are thirsty, water, orange, coffee or a pint of good old English Ale. No, beer and coffee will NOT dehydrate you

If you drink when you're thirsty, you are supposedly too late. And,since when doesn't alcohol dehydrate you? That must be when you go over a pint! TTT
I repeat, where is the evidence that we must drink 5 glasses of water? It seems as if some believe that to drink a cup of cafine drinks etc you will pee two cups full, how strange! To quote the USA track and field organization, athletes should be sensitive to the onset of thirst as the signal to drink, not try to stay ahead of it. indeed to much fluid runs a risk of hyponatraemia (low sodium levels)more prevailent sinc eathletes have followed advice to over-hydrate Our excellent 'thirst mechanism kicks in around 1-2% of total body water loss, 1-2 is NOT harmfull. Bottom line, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, NOT THOSE SO CALLED EXPERTS WHO CANNOT TELL US WHERE THEIR INFORMATION WAS FOUND

"LISTEN TO YOUR BODY." Hey, ok, I'll drink to that! Now just lead me to the closest pub for one (or more)of your good ole English Ales.

Very interesting. We have heard of hyponeutremia (spelling?) from a friend who works at the Grand Canyon. She actually rescues people who don't have enough water.
Good for her. I did not say don't drink any water, just don't drink more than you need.
Of course you need a lot of water in the Grand Canyon, you would not need as much in the Scottish Highlands in Winter, but the hiking could be harder
