(Another trail tale from Marty T. in Ohio)
I took my brother and cousin for a hike this Saturday. My brother quit about half way through. He
was packing WAY too heavy a bag, and said that I told him it was only 4 miles, not 12. No way I told him 4 miles. When he asked how long, I told him 4 HOURS. He musta heard "miles." Anyhow, he lived through it since I suggested we take the shortcut turnaround at the halfway point, and we kept it level on a towpath trail. After all that, he called Monday to say he slept for 13 hours and felt great when he woke up. I told him we just need to discover our limits and keep sliding them forward. (Good advice , TTT notes, and mentions the old disclaimer: "I know you believe you understand what you think I said , but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.").
