TEXAS WESTERN-MOST POINT
Tx/NewMex/Guadalupe Trip
On a map, the western-most point of Texas isn't a point at all but a squiggly line that meanders along the west basin of the Rio Grande River from Chihuahua to the top of the Texas panhandle. B
ut the extreme western projection of that line is designated by a bench mark located on the edge the driveway of the house Shirley Phillips has lived in all her life. She came to the side door and was most hospitable as we scurried about with maps, GPS, and cameras. She claims that the line divides her living room and bedroom. She's had numerous visitors there including Texas college students seeking the brass marker, which is set in a concrete pedestal, for a research project. If you go, taking a small gift along would probably be appreciated. From I-10, go west from Exit 2 using E. Vinton, W. Vinton, & S
